Research Focus: Polarization, Hyper-partisanship, Disengagement

Stories of the polarized state of our electorate dominate today's headlines. Do those headlines accurately reflect the state of political engagement in the United States? What are the implications of continued focus on the loudest, most partisan voices? Yanna Krupnikov, Professor of Communications and Media, is a scholar of political communication whose research investigates the complex relationship between the evolution of news media, the consumption of news, political expression, and perceptions of the political divide.
